Bird Food Recipes For Wild Birds...
Want to be the envy of the neighborhood as birds start flocking to
your garden? Here's the secret... offer birds more variety.
I know, it sounds simplistic. But consider this... probably 98% of
those gardeners who are feeding birds, are just feeding them seeds.
Imagine the difference if you presented wild birds with custom seed
mixes, fruits, nuts, peanut butter... even pancakes.
Did that get your attention? You can be sure it will get theirs.
Birds thrive on variety, and will return often when they find it.
So, let's get started.
Here are 5 bird food recipes...

Birdie Breakfast Cereal |
1/4 cup instant oatmeal
1 tablespoon peanut butter
1/4 cup chopped fruit (your choice)
- Add the oatmeal to a small, microwave-safe bowl.
Then add just enough water to cover the oatmeal.
- Place the bowl into the microwave, and cook it
on the highest setting for about 1 minute.
- After the minute is up, remove the bowl
(carefully!). Stir the oatmeal until all the water
is absorbed and the oatmeal is soft and cooked
through.
- Add the peanut butter, and stir it in until the
peanut butter melts and is completely dissolved into
the oatmeal.
- Finally, stir in the fruit.
- Now, let the mixture sit until is has cooled
considerably. When it’s cool to the touch, and no
longer steaming at all, stir it again and place it
outside for your feathered “kids”.
Be sure to place it where you can observe their table
manners…See if you can keep from grinning!
By the way, you can put the dish in
the refrigerator until you have time to get comfortable
to watch them. And leftovers, if there are any, can be
kept in the refrigerator.

for you!)
1 cup flour
3 cups corn meal
- Mix well.
- You can add peanut hearts or seed to the
mixture.
- Store unused mixture in a cool place
Oh… I forgot! Make sure to give it to the birds…
Just kidding. I don’t have to spell
everything out for you. After all, bird lovers are
pretty danged smart!

Pancake Delight |
Pancake mix
fruit or vegetables
- Prepare the pancake mix according to directions.
- Add fruit (or vegetables).
- Cook as directed on mix.
Everything’s normal so far, right? Well, the
“delight” part of this recipe title comes when you tear
the pancakes into "beak-sized" pieces and put them
outside where you can watch.
The birds start gathering around to investigate, and
what to their “delight” do they discover? Yum… pancakes!
(After all, who doesn’t like pancakes?)
You’ll find yourself smiling in
“delight” watching their antics as they scramble for
bites.
