Favorite Songbirds of the USAYou want to know what kinds of birds live in your location during the summer months? What about during the winter? As explained in Feeding Wild Birds, this is the first step in attracting your favorite wild songbirds into your garden. It also determines what kinds of food and shelter you will need to provide in order to draw them in and convince them to return. These hardy little guys need your help to make it through the season and be strong for next summer's busy life. Knowing which birds frequent your neighborhood throughout the year will help you know what kind of food and shelter to provide. Here's the best part. Isn't it logical to assume the non-migrating songbirds that benefit from your winter provisions will become year-round visitors or even residents of your bird garden. They may be tiny, but they "know a good thing when they see it." Be sure to check out all the articles on feeding and caring for wild song birds in Care of Wild Birds... just one of the categories listed right under the heading at the top of every page on this website. Regional Songbird Lists -Find Your FavoritesSo, let's get to it. Following are the lists of songbirds in your part of the country. Click any of the songbird names on these lists to go to a page dedicated to that songbird. You will find a picture, identification tips, what it eats, and maps showing its summer and winter ranges in your State. Some even have recordings of their songs. You will also find a link to the exact United States Geological Survey PWRC page featuring much more information for that species. By the way... if you are interested in Orioles and Cardinals, you will find articles in All About Orioles and All About Cardinals. Check out the articles at Susan's Hummingbird Gardens (this will be getting more articles very soon.) Also in the works is "Name that Hummingbird"... a site to help us identify those illusive, wonderful, tiny beauties. It will cover all of the USA and Canada. Ok, here are those lists (links will take you directly to the Regional Songbird Lists further down the page)... Northwest USA Southwest USA Midwest USA Northeast USA Southeast USA. |
